The Protocol Review Administrator (PRA) has primary responsibility for the oversight, management, and administrative leadership of the Cancer Center’s Protocol Review and Monitoring Unit which includes the administration of the Disease-Oriented Teams (DOTs), Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC), and Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB).

The NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its ~175 members engaged in research and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients.

The PRA independently directs and supervises the day-to-day management of critical activity in the CFCCC for assuring adequate internal oversight of the scientific aspects of all the cancer clinical trials in the institution, focusing on scientific merit, priorities and progress of clinical research.

In addition, the PRA is responsible for directing, administering, and achieving operational goals and objectives for the implementation and oversight of new operational strategies and unit goals for the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG).

The PRA is responsible for performance management of staff. The supervisory role is composed of staffing, work assignment, implementing the performance management program, leading staff learning and development, leave management and schedules, and HR-related functions.
