Seeking a full time experienced coverage analysis, billing compliance professional for a new Office of Clinical Research at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. This is a central research administration position, reporting to the Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) Associate Director in the Office for Clinical Research (OCR). This position provides senior level clinical research expertise for the development, implementation and oversight of Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) for industry sponsored clinical research and studies with MUSC Health billable items and services. Services will include coverage analysis and pre-award and post-award research budgeting and billing compliance support. This position functions independently and proactively with strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Job Purpose:
This is a central research administration position, reporting to the Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) Associate Director in the Office for Clinical Research (OCR) under the Office for the Vice President for Research. This position provides senior level clinical research expertise for the development, implementation and oversight of Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) for industry sponsored clinical research and studies with MUSC Health billable items and services. Services will include coverage analysis and pre-award and post-award research budgeting and billing compliance process development and support. This position will provide specialized expertise in clinical research and research administration as required for the PRA Team to perform their responsibilities. This position functions independently and proactively with strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Master of Science degree or higher preferred. Minimum of a Bachelorís degree and five years of experience in nursing, clinical research, health-related, scientific-related field or other related field, which includes three years of direct research administration, clinical research coordinator experience or other related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered for candidates without a bachelorís degree. Strong project management, facilitative leadership and organization skills. Experience with budget development and negotiation with industry sponsors, ICD-10 and/or CPT Codes, and knowledge of SPARCRequest, Epic, eIRB, proposal pricing and research billing highly desirable. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft office required. Strong knowledge of clinical processes, medical terminology, and the clinical research life cycle required. Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance through the Health Care Compliance Association is strongly preferred within five years of hire into this position.

Job Duties:
OCR PRA Team Development and Training Activities: 10% Works collaboratively and professionally with clinical and research leadership, the PRA Team, other OCR staff, the MUSC research community, MUSC and MUSC Health Compliance offices, Revenue Cycle, Epic Research and SPARCRequest Teams, other Epic Teams and external research customers, such as pharmaceutical companies and Contract Research Organizations (CRO) for development of Prospective Reimbursement Analysis at MUSC with a special emphasis on coverage analysis and mitigating institutional liability related to billing non-compliance and to meet the goals of the MUSC research and funding stakeholders.
