PCLI Webinar - Navigators and their Role at Cancer Centers

AACI’s Physician Clinical Leadership Initiative (PCLI) will host its next webinar, "Plotting the Best Course for Patients: Navigators and their Role at Cancer Centers", on Tuesday, December 5, at 2:00 EST. It will be led by Danelle Johnston, RN, MSN, BSN, ONN-CG, OCN, CBCN, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Director of Planning and Initiatives with The Lynx Group. She has been instrumental in supporting the committee activities of the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+). As a longtime AONN+ member, she serves on the AONN+ Leadership Council, and is co-chair of its Quality Metrics Task Force.

Webinar topics to be discussed include: • Overview of AONN and how it supports navigators. • How do you financially justify the role of a navigator? • What education and/or experience is required for recruiting lay and nurse navigators? • What is the relative value of the roles of lay versus nurse navigators and how you decide which is right for your institution? • How are navigators allocated within various practices- i.e., just for new patients, disease specific patients, high risk patients or comorbidity? • How do you ensure there are enough to go around? • How can cancer center leadership support these roles? • Are there metrics for monitoring workload?

The webinar is geared toward a wide range of participants, including: cancer center chief executive officers; directors of nursing and nursing managers or supervisors; clinical service line leaders; physician clinical leaders (e.g., chief medical officers); clinical trials office directors/managers; cancer center administrators; industry representatives; AACI Corporate Roundtable members; and, AACI Sustaining Members.
