The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is a campus-wide multidisciplinary matrix organization whose goal is to promote and enhance cancer-relevant research and patient care at UC Irvine. The CFCCC provides research resources to its 250+ faculty and clinician members and offers multidisciplinary cancer care to its patients.

The Manager for Programmatic Development and Cross-Functional Initiatives reports to the Director of Administrative Programs and oversees administrative operations, management and ongoing development of research programs and cross-functional initiatives at the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) aimed at enhancing scientific impact. This includes:

·       Oversee administrative operations of the three CFCCC research programs

·       Lead collection and maintenance of documentation for tracking and reporting, including logistics, planning, preparation, timely submission and reporting for research program portions of the Cancer Center Support Grant and CCSG-related reporting requirements 

·       Manage CFCCC membership

·       Oversee existing cross-functional efforts and integration in education and training, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, and research programs

·       Develop and maintain processes to incorporate cross-functional efforts into research programs ensuring alignment with CCSG goals and requirements

·       Collaborate with research programs and cross-functional groups to define objectives, develop timelines, assign responsibilities, track progress and report outcomes for new and existing efforts

·       Lead implementation of new efforts within research programs and across cross-functional groups, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational priorities

·       Implement and monitor processes within research programs and cross-functional efforts to ensure alignment with the CFCCC strategic plan and NIH guidelines

·       Refine and expand research programs and cross-functional efforts based on results, evolving needs of the CFCCC research community, and strategic priorities

Qualification requirements:

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across UCI and the Health System

·       Thorough knowledge of organization or initiative processes, protocols and procedures. Knowledge of pertinent policies, procedures, principles, regulations and requirements of the University of California, State, Federal, and other external agencies

·       Solid knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques. Advanced ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large amounts of data to prepare with strong attention to detail, sound and relevant proposals and analytical reports

·       Minimum of 5 years of experience with large multidisciplinary, multi-component research grants (e.g., Cancer Center Support Grant) required

·       Minimum of 5 years of prior experience leading or supervising a team in a matrix environment required

Preferred

·       Project Management Professional certification, Lean Six Sigma certification, or similar certification preferred

·       7 years experience in higher education is required, within the UC system is preferred
