For over 50 years, Edith P. Mitchell, MD, MACP, FCPP, FRCP (London), has blazed trails in diverse fields, from being the first female physician to achieve the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Air Force to leading diversity programs and serving as enterprise vice president for cancer disparities at Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health. Dr. Mitchell will deliver the opening keynote at 8:00 am central time on Monday, March 12, during the 2024 AACI Leadership Diversity and Development Workshop (LDDW). She will share some of the most salient lessons she has learned on her leadership journey.

The LDDW was developed as a component of the Leadership Diversity and Development Initiative (LDDI), the presidential initiative of AACI Immediate Past President Caryn Lerman, PhD, director of USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Registration is now open for the 2024 workshop, which will be held March 12-13 at Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel. The event will convene a diverse group of emerging leaders from AACI cancer centers with both didactic and experiential leadership development sessions on topics including authenticity in leadership, influential communication, and inclusive team building.

Each AACI cancer center director may select one emerging leader from their center to attend. The registration deadline is Monday, February 19.
